Getting Started with 0xLISTS

Launch your first Telegram bot in under 15 minutes. From zero to your first published daily list.

What is 0xLISTS?

0xLISTS is a hosted platform that runs automated Telegram bots to power a daily cross-promotion exchange between channels. Channel owners join your network; every day your bot pins a list of bracket-mates inside each participating channel. Channels promote each other, you manage the whole exchange from one dashboard.

What you get out of the box

  • Daily cross-promotion — each participating channel receives a pinned list of its bracket-mates
  • Smart bracket system — channels grouped by member count
  • Network channel publication — your operational channel gets the full list across all brackets
  • Operator summary report — your supergroup sees what landed where, every cycle
  • Auto-approval workflow — or manual review if you prefer
  • Custom branding — your name, colors, emojis

How it works (the big picture)

Before we dive into setup, here's the simple flow:

  1. You bring a Telegram bot — created via @BotFather in 30 seconds. Free.
  2. You nominate a network channel — your operational public channel where the full daily list will land.
  3. You connect a supergroup — your private operator space, where the daily summary report goes.
  4. Channel owners join — by forwarding messages to your bot. Their channel gets assigned to a bracket by size.
  5. The daily cycle fires — the full list posts to your network channel, each participating channel gets its bracket sublist pinned, and your supergroup gets a summary.
  6. You manage everything — from our web dashboard.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • A Telegram account (the one you'll use to create the bot)
  • A computer or phone with internet
  • About 15 minutes for full setup
  • A rough idea of your network's theme (crypto? NFT? gaming? fitness? finance?)

You do NOT need

  • Technical skills (no coding required)
  • A credit card to start (the Free plan needs none)
  • Existing channels (you can start from zero)
  • Special permissions on Telegram

Step 1 — Create your Telegram bot

Every 0xLISTS network is powered by a Telegram bot you own. Bots are free to create and you can have as many as your plan allows.

1

Open BotFather

BotFather is Telegram's official bot for creating bots.

In Telegram, search for @BotFatherand start a chat. You'll see a verified blue checkmark — that's the official one.

2

Send the /newbot command

BotFather will ask you for a display name and a username.

The nameis what users see (e.g. “WhaleList Bot”).

The username must:

  • End in bot (e.g. whalelistbot)
  • Be unique across all of Telegram
  • Be 5–32 characters, letters/numbers/underscores
3

Save your bot token

This is the secret key that lets you control your bot.

BotFather sends you a token that looks like:

123456789:AAEhBP7-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Keep this token safe

Anyone with this token can control your bot. Don't share it publicly, don't commit it to GitHub, don't paste it into random tools. You'll paste it into 0xLISTS in the next step and we encrypt it at rest.

Step 2 — Sign up for 0xLISTS

1

Visit the app

Open app.0xlists.com in your browser.

2

Click 'Start free'

No credit card required to start.

3

Create your account

Enter your email and choose a password (minimum 12 characters).

You'll receive a verification email within a minute. Click the link inside to activate your account.

Your free account starts immediately

You're on the Free plan right away — no card:
  • 1 bot
  • Up to 30 channels
  • 1 daily publication
  • Full dashboard, all customisation
Try a premium feature to start a 14-day Pro trial (once per account), or upgrade anytime — no charges until you do.

Step 3 — Connect your bot

1

Click 'Create new bot' from dashboard

You'll see this prompt right after first login.

2

Paste your bot token

The token BotFather gave you in Step 1.

3

We verify and connect

Takes 5–10 seconds. We confirm the token is valid and the bot exists.

If the token is wrong or revoked, you'll see a clear error and can paste a fresh one without starting over.

Step 4 — Set up your supergroup

Your supergroup is the command room for your bot. It hosts:

  • General — community chat
  • Updates — daily list announcements
  • Requests — pending channel approvals
  • Private messages — auto-created topics for DM support, one per user
Don't have a supergroup yet? The setup wizard walks you through creating one — it takes about two minutes.

Quick supergroup setup

1

Create a new group in Telegram

From the Telegram menu, choose 'New Group'.

2

Convert to supergroup

Group Settings → Members → add more than one person, OR set group permissions.

Supergroups have features regular groups don't (topics, higher member limits, granular admin rights). The conversion is automatic the first time you cross 200 members or change permissions.

3

Enable Topics

Group Settings → Topics → toggle ON.

Topics organise conversations within your supergroup. Required for 0xLISTS — your bot uses dedicated topics for updates, requests, and per-user DMs.

4

Add your bot as admin

Group Settings → Administrators → Add Administrator → search your bot's username.

Grant these permissions:

  • Manage Topics
  • Pin Messages
  • Delete Messages
  • Restrict Members
  • Send Messages

Don't worry about getting this exactly right — the wizard double-checks and tells you if anything's missing.

Step 5 — Run the setup wizard

Our 8-step wizard walks you through everything. It auto-saves as you go, so you can pause and resume without losing progress.

The 8 steps

  1. Welcome — quick orientation (10 seconds)
  2. Bot token — already done in Step 3
  3. Channels — configure your size brackets
  4. Customise — network name, colours, emojis, message templates
  5. Approval mode — auto-approve or manual review
  6. Schedule — when daily lists publish and pin behavior
  7. Supergroup — connect your private operator community
  8. Confirm — review and launch

Want a deep dive on any of those? See the Bot Configuration guide.

Step 6 — Your first daily cycle

After completing the wizard:

  • Your bot is active immediately
  • Channels can start joining via forwarding
  • The first cycle fires at your scheduled time and posts to three places: your network channel (full list), each participating channel (bracket sublist, pinned), and your supergroup (summary report)
  • You'll see the summary land in your supergroup's Updates topic when the cycle finishes

No channels yet?

Your bot won't have meaningful publications until channels join. Either:
  • Forward channel messages to your bot (great for testing)
  • Invite channel owners to forward to your bot
  • Add channels manually from your dashboard
See Managing Channels for the full join flow.

What's next?

Common first-day questions

How long does setup take?

Most operators are live in 10–15 minutes. The wizard moves fast and auto-saves between every field.

Do I need technical skills?

No. If you can use Telegram and a website, you can use 0xLISTS. There's nothing to install and no code to write.

Can I change settings later?

Yes — everything is editable from your dashboard. Names, brackets, schedule, emojis, message templates: change anything anytime, even while the bot is running.

What if I get stuck?

Email [email protected]. We usually reply within 24 hours and have seen most setup issues before — describe what you tried and what happened.

Can I delete my bot if I change my mind?

Yes. Dashboard → Bot → Settings → Delete. The bot stays in your Telegram account (BotFather) but is disconnected from 0xLISTS and stops publishing.
